See her project offerings: Lessons/Woodworking
Gwen C., the 5th of 6 daughters, was the one who always wanted to do something different. As a sixth grader she came running home from school to help her grandpa remodel their kitchen. In High School she took wood shop, and loved it. Her teacher asked her what she was going to do for a profession and he suggested that she teach woodworking.
Gwen started her career by teaching woodworking and metal shop. Over time, High School programs evolved to woodworking, drafting, and engineering. Locally she has taught for years in the DeKalb county schools teaching Technology and Engineering. She likes seeing the look on a student’s face when they really understand how a project is supposed to work.
In her spare time she likes making anything out of wood, especially furniture. There is something about the feel of the wood that has always intrigued her, and knowing that it is something that she has made with her own hands.
