Project: Comic Book, Cartoon, and Manga Drawing

Project Description: Part 1 - Character Development
Create the lead character for your book by going through the stages it takes to complete concept art including: sketching, poses, powers, movement, and character profiles. Determine your characters' abilities, attributes, weaknesses, origin and back stories. Complete character profile views and concept art. Talk about and explore the importance of villains and antagonists. The goal is to display your lead character on a poster.

Skill Level:  Beginner/Novice
Age: 5+

Project Description: Part 2 - Character Development
Students will explore the details of the "back story", and the future outcome of their potential stories. They will complete the concept art for the supporting cast of the lead character, as well as complete the concept art for the villains and their supporting cast. They will explore the importance of characters that can support the heros and villains, yet have lives of their own. Then they will sketch the concept art for these characters.

Skill Level:  Beginner/Novice

Project Description: Cartoon Sculptures - prerequisite Character Development Part 1 or Part 2
Students will make a three dimensional model of their lead or favorite character out of clay during the first session. After the clay dries, in session 2, they will paint their character.

Project Description: Cartoon Character Sculptures  
Students will make a three dimensional models of their lead or favorite character(s) out of clay, learning sculpting techniques.
