Manga: The art of cartoon character & comic book development
This series of lessons starts off with character development. You'll create the lead character for your book by going through the stages it takes to complete concept art including: sketching, poses, powers, movement, and character profiles. You'll determine your characters' abilities, attributes, weaknesses, origin and back stories. Complete character profile views and concept art. You will talk about and explore the importance of villains and antagonists. Students will then explore the details of the "back story", and the future outcomes of their potential stories. They will complete the concept art for the supporting cast of the lead character, as well as complete the concept art for the villains and their supporting cast. They will explore the importance of characters that can support the heros and villains, yet have lives of their own. They will sketch the concept art for these characters and have the basis for their own comic book.
